Culture Tour 


Day 1.  Tbilisi city tour.


Arrival at Tbilisi airport, transfer and accommodation. City tour in Tbilisi starting the route with old-town: visit the great St. Trinity ChurchMetekhi church,a walk in multinationalAbanotubani one of the ancient districts in Tbilisi famous for its sulfur springs, visit Narikala fortress overlooking the city and the Kura River,Sioni CathedralAnchiskhati basilica an oldest Orthodox church in the city built in the early sixth century,visit the Treasury of Art Museum. Welcome dinner at restaurant, tasting Georgian national cuisine. Stay overnight in Tbilisi.

Day 2. Tbilisi – Mtskheta- Tbilisi.

Drive to old capital city of Georgia - Mtskheta, visit historic and architectural complex of Jvari(6th c) – first cross-shaped church in plan of the early Medieval Period, Svetitskhoveli – (11th 13th c) – the biggest Christian temple in Georgia – was erected in the 11th c in the same place where the first Christian church in Georgia stood in the 4th c,  Samtavro – (11th-13th c) a monastery complex near Svetitskhoveli, the burial and coronation place of the Georgian royal family. Lunch in salobie restaurant, after lunch drive to Shio-Mghvime Monastery complex. Stay overnight in Tbilisi.

Day 3. Tbilisi – kazbegi - Tbilisi.

Military Georgian Road across the Caucasus: visit Ananuri castle complex which include fortress, two churches, an old watch tower, prison and civic buildings. Continue to famous ski resort Gudauri and via Cross Pass (2,395 m. alt.) arrival in Stephantsminda village, walk up toGergeti Trinity church at an elevation of 2170 meters, under Mount Kazbegi. Lunch in Stephantsminda. Drive to Dariali valley. Return to Tbilisi.

Day 4.  Tbilisi – Davidgareja – Bodbe – Sighnagi.

Drive to Kakheti region: visit David-Gareja (located in a hot semi-desert), the complex includes hundreds of cells, churches, chapels, refectories and living quarters hollowed out of the rock face. Lunch on the way. The Monastery of St. Nino at Bodbe - Originally built in the 9th century, it has been significantly remodeled, especially in the 18th century. Drive to Sighnagi from where you can enjoy picturesque view of Alazani valley and Caucasus mountains. Stay overnight in Sighnagi.

Day 5 .Sighnagi- Tsinandali- Tbilisi.

Drive to  Telavi city, visit museum in Tsinandali, wine cellar with assortment of wines (wine tasting), historical complex of Ikalto Academy (6-12 c.), architectural complex of Alaverdi, drive to Napareuli twin old cellar have a lunch, backing of Lavashi bread, visit fortified medieval citadel of Gremi and the monastery complex of Nekresi; return to Tbilisi via Gombori Pass.

Day 6. Tbilisi – Gori – Borjomi.

Western Georgia, visit an ancient cave town Uplistsikhe (1st millennium BC) and house-museum of Stalin in Gori as well the famous resort of Borjomi. You can try the mineral water from a spring and take a walk through Borjomi Park. Visit Timotesubani monastery (12-13th). In the evening you’ll arrive to the mountain resort Bakuriani where you’ll have a dinner. Overnight in Borjomi.

Day 7.  Borjomi – Vardzia- Borjomi.

Drive to Akhaltsikhe visit citadel of Rabati,  Vardzia ( 12th century)–The cave complex stretching over half a kilometer once consisted of some 3000 caves and was one of the the best examples of Georgia’s renaissance.  Return back Borjomi have a dinner.

Day 8. Borjomi – Kutaisi.

Drive to Georgia's second largest city Kutaisi the famous Land of the Golden Fleece, where Jason and Argonauts sailed. Visit  Bagrati Cathedral - 11th-century church regarded as a masterpiece in the history of medieval Georgian architecture, visit historic and architectural complex Gelati - also known as Gelati Academy founded by King David Aghmashenebeli (the Builder), short walk in Prometheus caves with stalactites and stalagmites located in the natural reserve. Stay overnight in Kutaisi and have a dinner.

Day 9. Kutaisi – Marvili - Zugdidi.

On this day you Visit Martvili, the Church of the Virgin (7th- 17th century) is one of the most significant monuments in Georgia and one of the oldest and most important centers in Western Georgia.Drive to  Martvili canyons where you will have a picnic, visit a Salkhino. Drive to the capital of the province Samegrelo,  Zugdidi. Here you can visit Prince Dadiani palace and museum, which is one of the oldest museums in the entire Caucasus region. Stay Overnight in Zugdidi.

Day 10. Zugdidi - Mestia.

Drive to Svaneti – the most exciting part of your trip, the region of the highest mountains and glaciers and the most abiding ancient traditions. Arrive in Mestia – center of the Upper Svaneti. En-route we visit Latali and Lenjeri churches painted inside and out. In Mestia  visit house-museum of the famous alpinist Mikhael Khergiani and middle centuries towers. Overnight and dinner in Mestia.

Day 11. Mestia -Ushguli – mestia.

On this day you drive up to Ushguli village (2200m).The village is considered to be the highest permanently inhabited village in Europe. This archaic village was declared as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The village is most famous for its abundance of watchtowers and this is where you get the view of the highest mountain in Georgia – Mt. Shkhara (5068m). In Ushguli we visitLamaria Church (12th century), museum and then walk up the hill to Queen Tamar’s Tower. In the evening we return to Mestia. Overnight and dinner in Mestia.

Day 12. Mestia - Batumi.

Departure to Batumi - seaside resort of Georgia, walking tour in Batumi city. Lunch in Adjarian restaurant. Evening leisure time at the beach. Overnight in Batumi.

Day 13. Batumi –Tbilisi.

Drive to Gonio fortress (1st century AD), played a vital role as a crossroads between the west and the Caucasus. Visit botanical garden, located at the Black Sea coast, is unique among the gardens of the world. Departure to Tbilisi. Gala dinner and overnight in Tbilisi.

Day 14. Tbilisi

  Free day. Transfer to the airport.
